Backgammon One Point Match

This variation of backgammon is played the same as regular backgammon except for two things: there is no use of the cube and there are no gammons or backgammons. The rules of One Point Matches often cause very strategic games, where a back-game is a bigger option than in the regular backgammon, because staying back never results in losing more than a point.

Since the games are all played too completion, "slime vigorish" which means to turn a game around suddenly may occur more often since a player cannot cube his opponent out.

A player needs to play "one point matches" because similar games occur all the time during tournaments.

One point matches have been named the "crack" of backgammon at the New England backgammon club, and even the "opium" of backgammon by others.
