Backgammon Rules

Optional Real Money Backgammon Rules

The following rules are suitable for those who play for money rather than for points ("Real Money Backgammon").

   1. Automatic Doubles:

The cube is automatically turned to 2 if at the beginning of a game, the two players throw the die to determine who is the one to make the first move and they get the same number. Most gamblers limit these doubles to one turn, but others prefer to have them unlimited.

    2, The Jacoby Rule:

According to this rule, a gammon or a backgammon are valid only if the game is doubled. Otherwise, it is considered a single game. When applying this rule, the game is more rapid, and a player who feels that he has no chance of winning can get out of the game. The rule also encourages the players to take more doubles and to raise their stakes.

   3. Beavers:

A beaver occurs when one of the players redoubles (beavers) right after taking a double, and holds on to the cube. This usually happens when a player who is doubled senses he still has a good chance of winning the game.
